We are locally-based voluntary bodies tasked with widening participation in learning london language training, increasing attainment, improving standards and meeting the skills challenge.
We operate as a “cradle to grave” lifelong learning partnership. This has created opportunities for synergy between the various partners across the whole age spectrum of learning. The Colleges hip is also the action group for the Local Strategic Colleges hip Lifelong Learning theme.
The Colleges hip comprises representatives from the local authority, the local Learning and Skills Council (CS) , schools, Further Education (FE), Higher Education (HE) institutions, training providers, careers services and employers, as well as other voluntary and community organisations.
Colleges are well placed to identify local learner, community and employer needs, and respond to them through the Colleges ‘ own actions, as well as by influencing the Local Learning and Skills Council (LLSC).
The Learning Colleges hip works with the other Local Strategic Colleges hip action groups to add value to the crosscutting nature of activity. Working together and pooling resources can achieve much more than would otherwise have been possible when working in isolation.
As one of four Learning Colleges working with the London CA it is important that the CS College accurately reflects the needs of the local learner, current provision and gaps. It continues to develop a more co-ordinated focus with other Learning Colleges , within the Humber Sub-Region and other neighbouring areas, collaborating on cross-border issues.
